The Nevada City School District wants to assure you that the safety of our students and staff continues to be our top priority. Comprehensive crisis plans for proper responses to a wide variety of emergencies have been developed to guide District staff, should the need arise.
Please know that the District's emergency preparedness planning is an on-going process. Throughout the school year, administrators continually reinforce existing security measures and institute a number of new measures to augment our schools’ preparedness. These measure include updating the school safety plan, fire and earthquake drills, and participation in District level emergency preparation activities. Additionally, we work closely with the local police and fire departments that operate within the Nevada City School District.
Depending on the nature of any potential emergency, we are prepared to respond and act immediately. Each school has an emergency plan with specific procedures for an on-site evacuation of the building, an off-site evacuation to an undisclosed location, and for a potential lock-down. If your child is on special medication, make sure the school nurse has a sufficient amount.
